| We're finally moving! |
This weekend, Fog Creek is finally moving into the big new office space we've been working on since last March. These things take FOREVER.
The new office will be:
- twice as big as the old office
- in a better neighborhood
- costing about 5 times as much in rent
- with higher quality finishes
- 50% more aquarium
- a private marble-lined shower
- and adjustable-height desks (for developer ergonomics, of course).
Also, thanks to Jeff Atwood, it will have Rock Band.
Today, the company came down to tour the construction site and pick offices.

Haworth didn't come through for me... their moveable walls take so long to manufacture that we're literally going to have to move in without walls and doors, which will arrive about 6 weeks late.

The new kitchen:

I'll have more detailed pictures for you once we get moved in.

| Looking for a Hard Break | | Data support the potential for a rally this week, especially if the S&P 500 can get a break of 1320. |
| Iron Man launch date, voice cast announced |
Stan Lee's true believers and gaming fans in general will be happy to know that upcoming Sega offering Iron Man (Microsoft Xbox 360, Sony PlayStation 3, PSP, Nintendo Wii, DS, PC) has been dated. Along with that announcement is the revelation of the main voice cast for the third-person action title.
Iron Man the game will launch on May 2, 2008 on all the platforms it's slated for. It will feature top talents Robert Downey Jr., Terence Howard and Shaun Toub reprising their movie roles. Downey will bring life to main character Tony Stark, Howard will play Lt. Col. James Rhodey Rhodes, and Toub will do his part as Yinsen.
Iron Man the game's storyline tells the tale of billionaire and inventor extraordinaire Tony Stark who gets captured by evildoers in the Middle East. Stark's captors give him orders to build an ultimate weapon, but he instead crafts a suit of armor that turns him into a one-man militia. Players will guide Iron Man in third-person shooting fashion through enemy-infested terrains filled with lots of stuff to blow up.

| Virtual Earth Aerial Photography Now Available for Purchase | Earlier this week Microsoft announced that it is making some of the imagery used in its Virtual Earth platform available for purchase (more on Virtual Earth in our VE SDK profile). The imagery, taken with Microsoft's proprietary UltraCam shown below is available for approximately 200 cities (in high resolution and averaging less than two years old). | Earlier this week Microsoft announced that it is making some of the imagery used in its Virtual Earth platform available for purchase (more on Virtual Earth in our VE SDK profile). The imagery, taken with Microsoft’s proprietary UltraCam shown below is available for approximately 200 cities (in high resolution and averaging less than two years old).
According to Virtual Earth, An Evangelist’s Blog:
This is great for offline use, wrapping your own client or creating an interface that allows for deeper zooming than the VE platform does today. You can purchase the photography through 2 vendors - Mapmart and i-Cubed.
As we reported last week, both Microsoft and Google have tapped into ‘mapvertising’ for generating revenues from their mapping services. This move by Microsoft brings another dimension to map services monetization, with a market that will likely be more institutional than mass consumer oriented.
We’ll have to see if Google makes a similar move in the near future, and what additional avenues for monetization emerge as the mapping platforms continue to mature.
For more in-depth background on the technology behind this, see Microsoft’s Mark Brown’s coverage, including a series of videos titled ‘Behind the Maps - The Technology of Virtual Earth.‘

| Hari Puttar Beats Harry Potter In Court: Court Rejects Warner Bros.' Complaint | Remember last month when Warner Bros. studio tried suing to stop the release of a movie in India called "Hari Puttar," claiming that it was too close to the Harry Potter franchise (despite the fact the stories and pronunciation are entirely different). Well, it would appear that Warner Bros. didn't have any wizardry on its side this time around, as a court rejected the studio's complaint allowing Hari Puttar to be released as planned this Friday. A big part of the rejection was the fact that Warner was aware of Hari Puttar for three years and waited until just before the movie was set to be released to sue. Apparently that didn't sit well with the judge.

| Fringe review: 4X4 | | It seemed like a good bet: four short plays by four playwrights (heights unknown) performed in four spaces, each one measuring 4 feet x 4 feet. |
| Wim Wenders | Wenders is a German filmmaker who has directed several highly acclaimed documentaries, including Buena Vista Social Club, a film about Cuban musicians. His film Paris, Texas earned him the Palme d'Or at the Cannes Film Festival in 1984, and he was awarded an honorary doctorate at the Sorbonne in Paris in 1989. Wenders has also directed a number of music videos for what popular band?

| People Gave Chrome A Shot, But They're Going Back To Their Original Browser | As we had mentioned, the original numbers that were coming out about people switching to Google's Chrome browser seemed a little difficult to believe. And, in fact, it appears they were. New reports are suggesting that while a bunch of folks may have kicked the tires on Chrome, the shine came off pretty quickly, and plenty of people have simply gone back to their original browsers. This really shouldn't be a surprise. While some people found Chrome to be clean and relatively fast, it didn't really offer much beyond that. That doesn't mean that it won't eventually make inroads into the market, but simply throwing up yet another browser with the Google brand on it isn't enough to convince people to switch. It needs to actually offer a significant and noticeable difference -- and so far that hasn't happened.
